Acupuncture Points and Interactive Atlas

Find a point by its code, pinyin name or location on the body. Start with a point guide or explore the interactive atlas.

What are acupuncture points?

Acupuncture points, also called acupoints, are named locations used in acupuncture and related practices. A point code identifies its place in a meridian naming system. For example, LI4 refers to Hegu on the Large Intestine Meridian. The code identifies the point; it does not describe a diagnosis or guarantee a treatment result.

Read the map accurately

The atlas is a learning aid. Symbols show schematic positions on a reference body, while location descriptions refer to anatomical landmarks and proportional measurements. Body shape varies, so a symbol on a screen is not a precise placement instruction on your own body.

About this English edition

This pilot begins with a complete LI4 Hegu flow. Other points may be visible in the atlas with a code, pinyin name and meridian even when a full English article is not yet available. Chinese articles are clearly labeled when offered as further reading.

Frequently asked questions

Are acupuncture and acupressure the same?

No. Acupuncture usually involves needles; acupressure uses pressure. Evidence about one method should not automatically be applied to the other.

Can I use the atlas without the interactive map?

Yes. Use the point guide link above to browse the written pilot content.
